Yesterday was a pretty busy day. I started out after logging off by doing some house chores, and then popping off to Costco to get canine medications from their pharmacy. Bridget met me there to go to Free Comic Book Day at the comic shop I usually visit. As long as this event has taken place, I have just about always been on call, so I've never attended, but when we got to 4 Color Fantasies, the line to get into the store was enormous, and there was no available parking at all. Thus, I said "Well, that's enough experience of Free Comic Book Day", and we moved on.

Since we were already in Rancho Cucamonga, my beloved suggested that we find the Sam Maloof Foundation and tour their museum. Mr. Maloof was an artistic woodworker, and the Foundation buildings which include his former home is filled with pieces that he built/carved/developed, as well as artwork from other artists in SoCal and worldwide. They are only open on Thursdays and Saturdays, and they recommend getting reservations for the tour, but we lucked out as they had space when we arrived. Fascinating tour...in the house, you're allowed to touch the woodwork, but not photograph; in the exhibit hall you are allowed to photograph, but not touch. Beautiful works.

In the evening we met up with Marlene and Mike; had dinner and then went to Cal Tech to see the Capitol Steps and their political parody songs. To our mutual shock, we had seats next to my cousin Steve! My beloved chatted with him a bit before the show and during intermission. It was really good to see him there...

A truly full day.
